From July 2016, the new lifeboat will be located at St Abbs Lifeboat Station in the heart of the St Abbs and Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve.
Most of the volunteer crew have a background of working at sea. Just the kind of people you’d want to be there if you needed them in an emergency, with their wealth of knowledge and experience.
With the station’s close proximity to the most popular recreational dive sites as well as the walking and birdwatching around St Abbs Head, the St Abbs crew can respond in minutes. The new St Abbs Lifeboat is independent, and is reliant on fundraising to run and maintain the boat as well as equip and train the volunteer crew to enable them to do their job safely.
